This is Catherine Carr's obituary.  For those who have difficulty reading the text:

Mrs. Katherine Kanouse, age 68 years, Omaha pioneer died Friday night at the family residence in Triangle Place, Florence, after a lingering illness.  Deceased was born in Ahalahana, County Kerry, Ireland.  Besides the husband, she is survived by the following children:  John Osborn, son by former marriage; Mrs. G. L. Barton, Mrs. George Gardels, Mrs. W. A. Sponsel, Mrs. George J. Keebler and Mrs. J. W. Brown, all residing in Florence and immediate vicinity;

Mrs. Kanouse was a most lovable woman and took great delight in helping & giving to the needy and never in life did she turn down anyone from her door hungry.

Mrs. Kanouse had a host of friends, both in this city and in Omaha who with relatives are left to mourn the loss.

 

 

According to "The Famine Years - Lists of Irish Immigrants arriving at the Port of New York, 1846-1851" by Ira A. Glazier and Michael Tepper, Volume VI, June 1850-1851, Baltimore; Genealogical Publishing Co. Inc. 1985, pp 259 through 261, left hand column about half-way down, Katherine and infant John Departed from the city of Liverpool 21 September 1850 on the good ship Hancock.  The documentation indicates Carr, Cath. age 28, Female, Wife date/port/ship: 21 Se02Gv and John, age .00, Male, infant, Date/Port/Ship 21SeO2Gv.  It is said she came to America with cousins but the name of the cousins is unknown.  No other Carr name is listed.  There is a Sullivan and a Walsh, both names known to be connected with this family in Kerry...(see land records for Ahalahana.)
