| One important aspect of the Congregational Church that makes it different from other churches is its Independence from outside authority. The other is the fact that it is member/owned, member/run. The right to independent thought and belief is highly important to the Congregationalist. They will call you wrong, but will fight to the death your right to be wrong. | |
FIRST CHURCH IS GROWING AGAIN!COME AND JOIN US This is my personal website and not run by First Church. I have been a member since the mid 1960s. I went there for a visit one day and fell in love with the people, the building and the freedom to believe in my own way. No one at this church will ever tell you how you must believe or what you must believe. No matter how many times I leave or for whatever reason, I always find myself drawn back because this is my Home in God. Each member is a part of my Family in Faith. We may not always like what we do or say regarding one another, but there is never a time when we do not love one another. It is that love which makes us a family of faith and I would not exchange that for all the gold in the world. For a more complete look at what we have to offer and our activity schedules, please visit the official First Congregational Church of Los Angeles website at www.fccla.org. Be sure and visit First Church at our 11:00 a.m. service and say hello to Dr. Richard Bower, Interim Sr. Minister, and Dr. Pieter Noomen and Dr. Jonathan Talberg, our new choir director. I know they will give you a warm welcome and can answer any questions you may have regarding our church. You will find them to be informative and congenial servants of the Lord. |
