CHURCH PHOTOS

Revised 20 August 2005

These were taken at break of day, the morning after the finials were reinstalled.  This project was funded with love, from the estate of past member, Dr. Aura Lee Pittenger.

The newly restored finials.  Taken from the Courthouse across the street
Parking lot view
Front view from further back.  Round dark circle is the spectacular Rose Window.   You have to see the window from inside to get full effect.  When the sunlight hits just right, all of the windows in the Sanctuary put on an incredible light show.
A little later in the day, and the reflection from the church would be mirrored in the Superior Court building across the street.  That reflection has been seen in countless films and is one of the most popular views for photographers.  If you look very closely, just below the tower is a doorway, which leads up into the tower itself.  I am told that Dr. Fifield used to go up there to write his sermons.  At that time, the view would have been spectacular and on a clear day, he would have had an unobstructed view for miles.
